Born in Tampa, Florida, Gilbert F. Casellas majored in Latin American Studies at Yale and later attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School. While practicing law at a Philadelphia law firm, Casellas helped to form and was elected president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania.
